This project focused on addressing cable failures due to improper sizing by introducing a holistic methodology. Key findings were that the current practices in Malaysia rely heavily on voltage drop and current capacity, overlooking crucial factors. My research identified the need for a more comprehensive approach.
The major outcome of this project was a robust cable sizing methodology integrating short-circuit let-through energy, current capacity, voltage drop, earth fault loop, and economic losses. It is supported by MATLAB and Excel, which make it a user-friendly tool for informed decision-making. Improved efficiency and reliability of power distribution networks, reducing cable failures, and enhancing cost-effectiveness.
